Kigali Independent University and Airtel Rwanda Sign MoU to Empower Students through the Airtel FuturePath Digital Skills and AI Program

 

Kigali Independent University ULK has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airtel Rwanda under the Airtel FuturePath Program, marking a significant milestone in strengthening digital skills, artificial intelligence literacy, and career readiness among university students. This partnership establishes a collaborative framework aimed at equipping ULK students with the critical competencies required to thrive in Rwanda’s rapidly evolving digital economy. The Airtel FuturePath Program is an innovative initiative focused on artificial intelligence (AI), digital skills development, mentorship, and employability preparation, ensuring that graduates are well-positioned to meet the demands of the modern workforce.

Through this MoU, Airtel Rwanda and Kigali Independent University will work together to implement structured programs that enhance students’ technical and professional capabilities. Key areas of collaboration include AI literacy training, digital skills development, industry mentorship, and career-readiness initiatives designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The partnership will provide ULK students with access to mentorship opportunities from industry professionals, exposure to real-world digital applications, and capacity-building programs that foster innovation, creativity, and professional growth. This initiative reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers and leadership roles in the digital era.

The collaboration aligns with Rwanda’s Vision 2050 and the National Digital Talent Strategy, which emphasize the development of a highly skilled, technology-driven workforce capable of driving national transformation and global competitiveness. 

By integrating digital skills and AI-focused learning opportunities, the MoU contributes directly to Rwanda’s ambition of becoming a regional and global hub for digital innovation. The partnership also promotes entrepreneurship and innovation by encouraging students to develop digital solutions and participate in transformative learning experiences that prepare them to contribute to Rwanda’s knowledge-based economy.
